<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <span class="readable reviewText">** spoiler alert ** <span id="freeTextreview1656969859">I've been in a kind of retelling mood lately so getting Everland in an OwlCrate box was the right thing to fuel that mood. I'm not a typically huge fan of Peter Pan but do enjoy the story and movies. The book reminded me a lot of Disney's Peter Pan 2 featuring Wendy's daughter. It had nothing that super wowed me which is really the only reason I give it more of 3.5 stars. <br /><br />The retelling itself was, in my opinion, well thought out. I loved all the Peter Pan references (the Newfoundland dog named Nanny, like Nana in Peter Pan, the second star to the right being a tall building, the youngest sibling, aside from being named Mikey, carrying around a teddy bear, Bella, with her extreme dislike of Gwen and her infatuation with flying, Petes rooster crow, Gwen being like a "mother", Lilly (like Tiger Lily) and Jake reminded me of Rufio from Robin William's Hook, plus the obvious Lost Boys and even a codfish comment... and these were just the ones I noticed). <br /><br />The retelling wasn't just a copy of Peter Pan, it had its own twists that made it interesting. It had a mix of plague, steampunk and war dystopians all rolled into one that provided an interesting plot. <br /><br />The characters themselves were also likable. The protagonist and antagonist both got their own chapters from their own points of view, which kind of made you feel bad for Hook at some parts. I liked Pete and Gwen just fine as well, and the possible romance between them was nicely done. <br /><br />The ending left you with some questions and wondering about a possible sequel. I hope it comes soon. Overall, not a bad book, a good retelling, but had nothing that overly wowed me.</span></span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1656779322">So wow, a lot happens in this book! Probably one of my favorites!! So if you are getting ready to read this, you better strap yourself in for a wild ride because once you start, it's gonna get bumpy. <br /><br />First off, like most of the Charley Davidson books, there is a whole lot of recap in the beginning. I love not feeling pressure to go immediately into the next book (and also not having to worry about forgetting some stuff while waiting impatiently for the next book). <br /><br />Now, moving onward... I'm keeping the review relatively short because a) I don't want to risk giving away spoilers in my excitement and b) most of you who have read this far I'm going to assume like reading the series in the first place so I'm not going to play up the typical things I love about Charley and the other characters and some common themes and aspects of the plot that have been there since book 1. If you wish, you can check out my other reviews of the earlier books for that stuff. <br /><br />The one major thing I loved about this particular book is all the wonderment that it made me go through. I had so many questions about everyone's secrets, and predictions about certain characters that I couldn't put the book down because I had to know and I had to know now! Everything to what's Beep going to be like, to Charley and her celestial name to what's going to happen with Charley, Reyes and Lucifer, and what's up with the dealer and is he really on their side?(Note: some of these questions and such I still have but hopefully we will find out more about them in the next book.)<br /><br />Now, aside from all this awesome wonderment, things actually start out pretty low-key. It's the typical, Charley gets a case, works it out and then wham, bam, thank you ma'am... shit hits the fan! I'm talking holy moly, frick on a stick with a brick, what the heck did I just read! (This is the part in my notes where I clearly used a lot of caps to emphasize my shock and awe). The caveat! We get to learn a little bit more about the esteemed Mr. Wong :) If that alone doesn't make you want to devour this book, then hopefully the curiosity with my "shock and awe" description will entice you.<br /><br />Overall, loved the book! This book probably gets more of a 4.5 star rating from me just because of the slow-ish start and the fact that I nearly dislocated my jaw with how quickly (and numerous) things happened in the end. Can't wait for the next one!!!</span></span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1652265373">I
still LOVE Kenyon and her Dark-Hunter world, and her fabulous character
development and... just everything. However, I'm still trying to find
another story arc with this book. Something that connects it (plot-wise)
with some of the other books. <br /><br />I really liked the couple in
this. Wren himself is very much like a big cat; he's kind of standoffish
until you show him some affection and then he's lovey, but only when he
wants to be, and then it's back to being standoffish the next minute
later. Maggie is cute, and I like her connection with Nick. However, I'm
curious as to his whole urge to be with her when they aren't mates.
When I first read about the mates thing in one of the past books, I was a
little put off just because it was really close to the "instant-love"
thing I hate with some books. But I explained it away with the whole,
they are picked by the gods to be together thing and I guess that makes
it better in my mind. But with Maggie and Wren, they are really close to
that "instant-love" thing I hate... <br /><br />I didn't take many notes
with this book (which is a good thing usually since that means I read it
too fast to really put it down to write my thoughts down). There is a
huge time paradox that threw my for a loop (marked by my "holy time
paradox batman!" note....) but overall, not too many thoughts with this
book...<br /><br />It's not my favorite but I did plow through it pretty
fast. Like I've said for most of my reviews for Kenyon books, if you
liked the other ones, you'll like this one. I just hope there is a new
story arc coming up soon, since this one could pretty much be a
stand-alone (which I guess isn't a bad thing.... but I miss the
connectivity of the early books).</span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1624213650">And
now for something completely different!! That's right! We move this
party to somewhere else outside of New Orleans so all those questions
you might have from the last book, we'll just let those stew in you for a
bit. <br /><br />However! Never fear! This book we dive a little bit deeper
into the enigmatic world that is Acheron and the first Dark-Hunters. I
highly recommend reading "The Beginning", a short story included in the
back of the book, first. It really helped with some initial confusion I
had in the beginning. We also get some more information on Shades and
what "life after death" is like for Dark-Hunters. <br /><br />As a downside
for me, I got really into seeing Dark-Hunters from other books in the
current book I was reading, so taking this seemingly sudden trip
elsewhere, kind of jarred me. For this reason, it took me a bit to get
into the book. However, I was very interested in why one of the world's
first Dark-Hunters had it in so bad for Ash. Like I said, you do get to
see more of Acheron, and aside from Stryker, that seems to be the only
tie in with the other books. I'm kind of hoping this opens up to another
arch/story line at some point. Until this happens, I see this book as
kind of a #6.5 book.<br /><br />Now, onto the characters. I really enjoy
seeing how the main couple connects in true kindred spirit form. For
this book, both have had some form of betrayal from loved ones that make
it hard for them to trust others. For Dark-Hunters, this is nothing
really new, but in these cases, it works just right without being
painstakingly repetitive. <br /><br />I really feel for Danger's confusion
throughout the book. Both parties are very convincing and I actually
thought, "I'm glad I'm not in her shoes", since I don't really know how I
would have handled some of those situations. And ah, Alexion... the
typical "man-slut meeting a girl who doesn't throw herself at him"
scenario. Truthfully, never gets too old for me. I do enjoy some of
their banter throughout the book. They aren't my favorite couple, but
they are cute. <br /><br />In also typical Kenyon fashion, be prepared for
lots of fighting and action, plus some twists and truths you may not see
coming. Overall, not a bad book but felt more like a half story that
didn't work to really propel the main storyline forward.</span></span></span><br />

love for these books knows no bounds!!! After taking a small break from
Charley Davidson (hard to do, I know) to catch up on some other series,
I happily return to this book knowing that I don't have to worry about
forgetting what happened in the other books. If you read this series one
right after the other, then that constant recapping might get annoying,
but I love it. <br /><br />So now we have a situation... Charley has
suicide victims, who are leaving notes, except there are no bodies, a
dead girl with a missing body, a stalker lady after Reyes and....
something else.... hold on I can remember.... oh yea! 12 evil and
blood-thirsty hell hounds out to tear Charley limb from tender limb. So,
needless to say... there's a lot going on.<br /><br />As for the characters
you know and love, Charley is her same witty, reckless self that we all
know and love, Reyes is still mysterious and over protective, and uncle
Bob and Cookie are also just as awesome. The person I actually really
liked reading more about was Daeva, (Osh). I'm really curious about him
and hope he's around more to get to know him more. I also want to know
why Charley has such an innate trust in him. <br /><br />I've touched on the
plot already, but truthfully, if you are a fan of the series (which I
assume if you are reading the 7th book... you like the series at least a
little), this book meets and may exceed your expectations. <br /><br />Truthfully, I love all the drama, mystery, and
perfect Charley-isms that just keep building up! Can't wait for the next
one!</span></span></span><br />

<span class="readable reviewText">
<span id="freeTextreview230809449">I remembered reading this
book in high school and I wanted to see if I still loved it as much as I
did then. The answer was yes, and almost more so. <br /><br />If you
haven't heard of or read the summary yet (for whatever reason), it
pretty much is the story of three different gay boys and their struggles
with their identity and, of course, high school. You have Jason, the
jock who doesn't think he's gay, and almost appears to be slightly
homophobic, while on the other end of the spectrum is Nelson, who is
very openly gay, and Kyle is somewhere in the middle. We also have a
little love triangle between the boys ;)<br /><br />Each chapter is told
from either one of the three boys' perspectives and usually, I'm not a
huge fan of this, but here, it really worked. The book really helped you
empathize with each of the boys as they each had their own struggles.
This also helped me, personally, understand the struggles of some of my
friends and peers when I was in high school. Their struggles, both with
their identity and typical high school drama, were all very relatable.
It's a great book for a lot of different people, whether you are gay,
questioning or curious, or even just looking to understand what a friend
might be going through. <br /><br />These were feelings I remembered
feeling when I first read the book, and nowadays, there is a lot more
tolerance and acceptance around homosexuality, so some people may not
see the relevance of the book, but I still think it's something everyone should read at least once!</span></span></span><br />

<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Let me start by saying, if you are a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's <a href="http://fireflyreadit.blogspot.com/2016/03/review-night-pleasure-dark-hunter-1.html" target="_blank">Dark-Hunter series</a>.... read this!!! Right now!! I've seen parents who read the series start reading this with their kids so they can both enjoy the world and talk about the characters, which is really awesome :)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I will continue to say that this series makes me ridiculously happy. I love Nick in the Dark-Hunters series so I'm glad to see how he got his start in the Dark-Hunter world and Kyrian. I loved to see that all the sarcasm and wit he has as an adult was apparently ingrained in him as a kid. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Now, being that I'm only part way through the Dark-Hunter series, this lead to some confusion on Ambrose and his role with Nick and how all that connects back to the Dark-Hunter series, but I'm hoping that gets cleared up the more I read. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Without giving away any spoilers, I will say this book generated a lot of other questions that I really hope are answered, but overall, I'm super excited about this series (as I usually am with anything Kenyon related), and as I've said before... if you read the Dark-Hunters series.... read this!! Get your kids to read it!! Get your friends to read it!! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> I am obviously coming from the point of view of someone who has read her Dark-Hunter series, but trying to be unbiased as possible, this is still a really great book. Kenyon has a way with making characters that make you feel for and love them, which is something I love about any book. I always love her writing style, she can add humor to any situation and it doesn't take away from the seriousness of the situation, and all her works always leave me wanting more, and this is no exception. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">If you don't read the Dark-Hunter series, check out my review of the first book (see link above) and get reading!!!</span><br />

Hey, guys! Hope you're having a wonderful summer so far. Today, I'm very excited to spotlight a book that is perfect for that end of summer trip, or just a relaxing read by the pool. I requested it as soon as I saw the beautiful cover and read the summary. I'm a huge fan for drama with a splash of comedy. I kind of live by the laugh or you'll cry mentality so books that take on that tone are my kind of reads.<br />

<b><u>Top Tips for Finding Humor in Writing</u></b></div>
<br />
When I’m writing anything long form, film, book or TV episode, I always plot it out first. I’ll write about 25 pages outlining the story and character development so I know exactly what’s going to happen. And at this point it looks like a drama. This gives it a strong narrative, good storylines and plot and themes. Then the fun bit – I flesh it out like a comedy, I push situations to their extremes, I add in funny dialogue, I exaggerate character flaws. This is my tried-and-tested method. It’s a drama dressed in clown clothes and hopefully that way it’s funny but with characters you care about and a story that grips you.

CHRISTIAN is a boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The local gang has blackmailed him and his friends into robbing banks, and he is desperate for a way out. When the boss promises that one really big job will be the last he ever has to do, Christian jumps at the chance for freedom. In fact, he’s just met a girl at the bank who might even prove useful. . . .
Two heists. One score. The only thing standing in their way is each other.
Told in alternating points of view, this caper is full of romance and fast-paced fun. Hand to fans of <b><i>Perfect Chemistry</i></b>, <b><i>The Conspiracy of Us</i></b>, and<i><b> Heist Society.</b></i><br />

<b><u>Robinson's Thirteen</u></b></div>
<b><br /></b>
Let's be real, most of us have thought about having a kickass crew to get shit done. Maybe it doesn't need to be criminal but life would be so much better if we all had a badass squad to take over the world (or maybe a Vegas casino) with. Here are the top nine fictional characters that would make up my heist crew.<br />
<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>1. Echo from <i>The Girl at Midnight/The Shadow Hour</i></b><br />
<i><br /></i>
I can think of only one person who I'd want to be my right hand and that's Echo, the witty, burrito thief at the heart of Melissa Grey's amazing trilogy. She has deft fingers and great experience as a pick-pocket. She also has a knack for getting out of tricky situations that might just come in hand.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<b>2. Hermione Granger from the <i>Harry Potter </i>Series </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Hermione makes up our squad goals, let's be honest.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSTc7kGf0YWrDte1KYB9B2k80RKepwchZ5Dnoo1kye5rQk9W_Ly" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSTc7kGf0YWrDte1KYB9B2k80RKepwchZ5Dnoo1kye5rQk9W_Ly" width="133" /></a></div>
<b>3. Kestrel from <i>The Winner's Trilogy </i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
With her impressive mind for strategy and her experience as a spy, I'm sure Kestrel would be a perfect fit.<br />
<br />
<b>4. Lia from <i>The Kiss of Deception and Series </i></b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I'm still on the first book of the series (I know, I'm horrible) but what I remember of Lia was her strength and determination and I'm going to need someone like that on my crew.<br />
<br />
<b>5. Reagan O'Neill</b> from <i>Open Road Summer </i>by Emery Lord<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTrkiDCZlSZ9VP1_6lCY-HXKw6ZqZFC15ZV8QnTydmOSHqwVdEy" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTrkiDCZlSZ9VP1_6lCY-HXKw6ZqZFC15ZV8QnTydmOSHqwVdEy" width="132" /></a></div>
<br />
<b><br /></b>
Despite the fact that Reagan comes from a more magical world, I admire her loyalty, her sass and her take-no-shit attitude.<br />
<br />
<b>6. Karou from <i>The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy </i>by Laini Taylor</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
The chick can fly. 'Nuff said.<br />
<br />
<b>7. Charlotte Holmes from <i>A Study In Charlotte </i>by Brittany Cavallaro</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
No heist crew would be complete without a Holmes. Am I right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1444317771l/26114524.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1444317771l/26114524.jpg" width="132" /></a></div>
<b>8. Trixie Watson from <i>The Only Thing Worse Than You Is Me </i>by Lily Anderson</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Trixie would be a delightful addition in that she's intelligent and adaptable. She also has enough geek and pop-culture references to make whatever job we have planned fly by.<br />
<br />
<b>9. Lilac LaRoux from </b><b><i>The Starbound Series </i>by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I need someone who can easily charm and deflect suspicion. Not only is Lilac a pretty good mechanic, but I think she might be a good grifter.<br />
<br />
<b>10. Lin Cinder from <i>The Lunar Chronicles </i>by Marissa Meyer </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Can you imagine Lilac and Cinder working together on our badass getaway spaceship? I CAN!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRbef9sOq3P9bjNAqtOgsSQvmcjP3KfE7vYsING97vafiT6XFFE" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRbef9sOq3P9bjNAqtOgsSQvmcjP3KfE7vYsING97vafiT6XFFE" width="133" /></a><b>11. Scarlet Benoit from </b><b><i>The Lunar Chronicles </i>by Marissa Meyer </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
She's a great shot. Plus, she's hella feisty.<br />
<br />
<b>12. Jubilee Chase from <i>The Starbound Series </i>by </b><b>Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Her military training could come in handy. Plus she's just as badass as the rest of the team.<br />
<br />
<b>13. Sofia Quinn </b><b><i>The Starbound Series </i>by </b><b>Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner </b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Another grifter, Sofia would be perfect for the long-con. You know, if we needed to do a long-con.<br />

The firebird has come into the world, but it has not come alone. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and Echo can feel a great and terrible darkness rising in the distance. Cosmic forces threaten to tear the world apart.<br />

Echo has already lost her home, her family, and her boyfriend. Now, as the firebird, her path is filled with even greater dangers than the ones she's already overcome.<br />

She knows the Dragon Prince will not fall without a fight.<br />

Echo must decide: can she wield the power of her true nature--or will it prove too strong for her, and burn what's left of her world to the ground?<br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>Nicole's Review:</b></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">This has been one of my most sought after books since I read the first one last year. I had to wait extra long to read this bad boy since I got one of the earlier ARCS for The Girl At Midnight<b>.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Before getting to the meat of the book, can we talk about how AMAZING the covers have been? And once you really read the book, the cover makes all the sense in the world. I also adore how it's almost like one of those illusions where there are two different things hidden. Pure Genius!<b> </b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b><br />
</b> The amazing cover is just a hint at the wonderful cast of characters that Melissa brings to life. We get to see a side of each character that we didn't get before and not only that we get to learn more about everyone, like Altair and what his motives really are and about Jasper and how he became this amazing confident Avicen that he is today.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Echo's journey with the firebird began as the last book ended. This book we really get to see where her quest took her and if it really was for the good of all the people.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I think what I liked best about this book was seeing Tanith more and more. Grey does an amazing job of creating these characters that are both good and evil, and seeing all sides of Tanith makes her more human.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Ugh, reading this book just makes me want want the last book to see where this epic battle is going to take us.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><b>Brianna's Review:</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">For those of you who don't know, Melissa Grey's novels are a
reader's dream. It has all the makings of a perfect series. Echo is
pretty much the best friend/big sister, you've always wanted and
probably also always wanted to be. She's unafraid of confrontation, is
extremely loyal and also has a way out of most things (either by way of
quip or quick thinking) that should be admired. In the first part of
the three book series, Echo-- an orphan who found a home and family with
the Avicen, a powerful race of magical beings who live beneath New York
City-- became allies with the former Dragon Prince, who belonged to
another ancient race bent on the destruction of the Avicen-- who lost
his home, right to rule, and the love of his life while searching for
the all-powerful, reverent Firebird. Long story short, the beginning of
the series had forbidden love, a worldwide quest and an ensemble that
was Scoobie gang worthy. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">In THE SHADOW HOUR
(Spoilers Ahead), we find her on the run from two sides of a centuries
old war as she struggles with the newfound knowledge that she's the
Firebird, a mythological being that may be not only capable of
destroying the world but also saving it.The second book lived up to the
first in every way. It was fun without being too lighthearted, it was
dramatic without being overdone. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">If a book
could be a summer blockbuster, THE SHADOW HOUR would be it. A brilliant
follow-up to the equally fantastic debut, THE SHADOW HOUR has all the
makings of a well-rounded epic. I's delightful, full of breathless
action and nail-biting moments--I ruined my gel manicure on this book,
everyone. It's a quick read in that I NEEDED to know what happens next
at every turn.<br /><span style="color: #0f61c8;"><br /></span>Not only is the
world wholly originally--can I dress up as Jasper for Halloween, please
and thanks-- but the writing is also incredible and I can't find fault
in it. In fact, I would be extremely happy if I could just read outtakes
of the characters going about their business--like Jasper and Ivy
debating at a cafe while Ivy plays referee, or Echo teaching Caius how
to text. That's how much I love these characters. I would literally read
them taking part in the most mundane activities.<br /><span style="color: #0f61c8;"><br /></span>Sometimes
second books get stuck in a sequel slump. THE SHADOW HOUR did not at
all. It had all the wonder and intensity of a debut. I loved every
moment of it.<br /><span style="color: #0f61c8;"><br /></span>And right now, the book is ON SALE on KINDLE. <a data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en&q=https://www.amazon.com/Girl-at-Midnight-Melissa-Grey-ebook/dp/B00N6PCYOG&source=gmail&ust=1467909227618000&usg=AFQjCNFVi07Kh1eZtmHJps_C0gUzOqWr9Q" href="https://www.amazon.com/Girl-at-Midnight-Melissa-Grey-ebook/dp/B00N6PCYOG" target="_blank">Buy it here.</a> You

remember, she has dreamed of Max. Together they have traveled the world
and fallen deliriously, hopelessly in love. Max is the boy of her
dreams—and only her dreams. Because he doesn’t exist.<br /><br />But when
Alice walks into class on her first day at a new school, there he is. It
turns out, though, that Real Max is nothing like Dream Max, and getting
to know each other in reality isn’t as perfect as Alice always hoped.<br /><br />When
their dreams start to bleed dangerously into their waking hours, the
pair realize that they might have to put an end to a lifetime of
dreaming about each other. But when you fall in love in your dreams, can
reality ever be enough?</span></span></blockquote>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm going to preface this review with the fact that contemporary romances aren't usually my thing. However, the whole concept of meeting your literal dream boyfriend in real life was pretty interesting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">In fact, the whole dream vs reality thing was the main thing I found interesting. The whole CDD thing and the mystery around it, as well as the obvious mystery of how Alice and Max were meeting in their dreams, was the force that drove me through the book. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">There was a lot I liked as well as some things that irked me throughout the book, and strangely enough the romance in the book irked me more than satisfied me. I'm not a huge fan of the "on again, off again" kind of thing that happened throughout the book while they tried to figure out dreams/reality and all their feelings. I get it can be highly confusing to meet someone you didn't think existed but half the things Max and Alice did, just didn't make sense to me.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">For example, when Alice and Max first meet, if I were in Alice's shoes I would not instantly treat Max as if we had known each other for forever. What proof did she have that it was the same person? And even if it was, the idea of that dream person being in the real world would have been too outrageous for me to just act like they knew who I was. This made it hard for me to relate to her.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'm also not a fan of Max's inability to choose between Celeste and Alice was also irksome. I understand a bit why there was conflict but it didn't stop me from being annoyed with the whole cheating aspect. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It ended with a perfectly/disgustingly lovey-dovey ending (I was actually hoping the whole thing was just a dream haha). Like I said, contemporary romances aren't really my thing and this was heavy on the romance. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Overall, the book was interesting and had a very unique plot, which I liked a lot. It was just very heavy on the relationship aspect, Max and Alice's feelings for each other, which was cute to a point, but just not my thing. </span><br />

immortal warrior who has traded his soul to Artemis for one moment of
vengeance on his enemies. In return, they swear to spend eternity
protecting mankind from the daimons and vampires that prey on them.
Valerius isn't a popular Dark-Hunter - he's a Roman, which means that
the largely Greek Hunters have a major grudge against him and his
civilization for superceding them. To make things worse, he's very
conscious of his aristocratic background and breeding. So it serves him
right when he runs into Tabitha Devereaux. She's sassy, sexy, and
completely unwilling to take him seriously. (Not to mention Tabitha is
also the sister-in-law of Kyrian, a former Dark-Hunter and Val's mortal
enemy.) What Tabitha does take seriously is hunting and killing
vampires-and soon she and Val have to grapple with the deadliest of all
Daimons - one who's managed to come back from the dead, and one who
holds a serious grudge against both of them. To win against evil, Val
will have to loosen up, learn to trust, and put everything on the line
to protect a man he hates and a woman who drives him nuts.</span></span></blockquote>

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1620814060">Oh man.... things are about to get interesting! Bring on the drama!!! <br /><br />When I first read the summary of this book, my first thought was, "Oh boy.... Valerius and Tabitha.... how on Earth are Amanda and Kyrian going to react??" Like many of the other characters in the book, I didn't have a high opinion of Valerius, mostly because I loved Kyrian. But after Bride/Vane's book and seeing how he acted toward her, I started thinking there was something else to Valerius. As I read his book, I quickly began to love him and Tabitha and this book quickly became my new favorite!!<br /><br />First on my list of "why I love this book", the banter between Tabitha and Valerius is hilarious. Plain and simple. This book is the poster book for opposites attract, where fun-loving and crazy meets uptight, serious and controlling. All of this comes in my favorite gift wrapping in the form of "no instant love connection"! We get to see them go through the hills and valleys of becoming acquainted and then caring for one another and then falling in love. For me, it's all about that journey :)<br /><br />Second on my list, it has probably on of the happiest and best endings I've seen! Lots of love all around for all characters!!! Since I strive for these reviews to be spoiler-free, that's all I will say :)<br /><br />Third, I still love Kenyon's ability to make you truly care for her characters. I laughed and cried with Tabitha and Valerius through everything. There were heart attacks that caused said heart to leap into my throat and occurrences that generate more questions that they answer (looking at your Acheron). <br /><br />Lastly, and again.... really trying not to give away any spoilers..... but..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I need to know what happens!!!! How is this going to affect Kyrian and Acheron????? (If that left you thoroughly confused, and slightly interested in reading the book to see what happens.... then my job is done.) <br /><br />Overall, my new favorite book, as previously stated. So many emotions happened in so little time and I have a bucket load of questions that are begging to be answered, but I'm developing more questions that they are being answered. But that's half the fun with these books and are what keep me crawling back for more!</span></span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1614286654">YES!!!! Finally a story about a bigger woman!! (Not that I didn't absolutely adore the other fabulous ladies in these books, I just love reading about a girl with body issues much like my own. I related a lot with Bride).<br /><br />And I actually loved reading about both of their insecurities. Bride obviously had her body issues thanks in part to an extremely sucky ex-boyfriend (and I say "sucky ex-boyfriend" because that is the best I can do without needing a censor), but Vane had his own insecurities being part Katagari and part Arcadian. A lot of people really don't like Bride's constant fixation on her weight and what-not, but with some of her family and person she previously loved also telling her she should diet, I don't blame her in the slightest (and I honestly didn't really notice it or it really didn't bother me. I'm kind of used to the book repeating some points over and over throughout the book though). I also found it slightly weird that she finds a random wolf on the street (and realizes it's a wolf, not like "Oh look! A big dog!") and takes it home with her and also doesn't question that it's miraculously tame. <br /><br />I also have issues with inst-love/lust that's popular in many romance novels, and I've seen it with a few Dark-Hunters too. It annoys me a little, and in this case... I can kind of explain it away. I don't want to give spoilers so I won't say anything more than, sometimes you just can't help fate and if you are meant to be together, instant love/lust might happen. Still slightly annoying to me, though... I like to see more of a challenge. <br /><br />This book also introduces a couple more characters, Fury and Fang (who isn't really introduced but you see him again), who I'm actually really hoping they have their own books sometime soon :) It really helps build up why I love this series... outstanding character developed and character driven! You want to know what happens to the characters and that really drives me through the book. <br /><br />Especially this book..... To say that this book fucked with my head is putting it lightly. The amount of times I was like, "Nooo!!!........oh ok just kidding...... wait what??? NOOOO!!!! *crying*...... oh.... ok never mind again...." was ridiculous. Again, no spoilers, but this book really did almost bring me to tears (ok..... it did....). <br /><br />I really enjoyed learning a little bit more about the Katagari and Arcadians and did really enjoy Vane's book (slight annoyances aside). The drama with it and the continued character development is amazing as always, and at parts I was wishing I could read faster to see what would happen. A well-deserved 4.5 stars from me and I'm on to the next one :)</span></span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a>I absolutely loved all these stories!!! It's perfect for fans to be able
to reconnect with their favorite characters and get some more of their
background.<br /><br />Some people say that the stories don't really add
anything else to your view of the characters, to which I say, I totally
disagree! My view of the characters haven't changed much, that's true,
but I greatly enjoyed seeing a lot of their back-story; it gave me some
insight into why some of them made the decisions they did and how many
of them were connected even before they knew each other. You get to see
why they are whom they are. <br /><br />As for some standouts, The Little
Android, retelling of the Little Mermaid, was definitely one of my
favorites ;) and the epilogue, Something Old and Something New.... loved
it!!!!! It was the perfect, ultimate endings :')<br /><br />If you are a fan of The Lunar Chronicles... Your life just won't be complete without reading this book!<br />

be honest, based on the description I was getting some serious
sci-fi/parallel universe vibes. When I started reading and found out it
wasn't, I was a little disappointed. However, the more I read, the more I
actually really enjoyed it. <br /><br />Contemporary books really aren't my
thing; I tend to be very picky with which ones I like. This book ended
up being very relatable to, at least myself. I connected instantly with
Will Grayson IMing Isaac. I remember sitting at my computer waiting for
my crush to IM me and acting like I wasn't waiting there the whole time
(and I feel many people from the days when IM was a more popular thing
can relate to that as well). <br /><br />I really like the writing style and
the two view points with different writing styles for the two different
Will Graysons. It's very unique and I think it really helped me get
into the head of each Will Grayson (not to mention helped me remember
which Will Grayson I was reading about). <br /><br />The book also dealt
very nicely with almost every tough aspect of being a teen: being gay,
questioning friendships, starting to like someone, depression, etc. It's
a story about love and heart break and everything high school. <br /><br />I
think Tiny Cooper said it best when he said, "Stop thinking about the
landing, because it's all about the falling." It's a great book about
showing appreciation for the people closest to you. I honestly think
this book should have been titled, "Tiny Cooper and the Will Graysons".
Tiny Cooper is just fabulous and I think everyone needs a little Tiny
Cooper in their life. <br /><br />Overall, an interesting and thought-provoking book that all teachers and students will enjoy.</span></span></span><br />

<span id="freeText2715664376556697483">This stunning debut
captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a
girl’s pangs of first love and independence.<br /><br />Alyssa Gardner hears
the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed
her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse
stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration
for Lewis Carroll’s <em>Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland</em>. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.<br /><br />When
her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns
that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The
real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis
Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests,
including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea
party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and
save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous
best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her
guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.</span></blockquote>
<br />
<a name='more'></a> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1613475730">I'm not a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, but I really liked this book/series and it's connection to Alice. <br /><br />It
was interesting to read how Alyssa was related to Alice, the real Alice
who inspired the Wonderland stories, and her "curse" of insanity and
hearing bugs and flowers talk. Alyssa gives background information on
the curse a little at a time so the beginning was a little confusing but
once you get into it, wow, it hooks you right in. <br /><br />I really
loved how Alyssa was willing to go so far for her mother. Though I
questioned some of her decisions, like really trusting Morpheus (even
though I was personally rooting for him), I don't know how much better I
would have been in her shoes. <br /><br />I wasn't a huge fan of Jeb. I
felt like he was the typical, "big brother figure/love interest" and
there wasn't much else to him. Morpheus on the other hand, I really
enjoyed. He was funny, sarcastic, witty, and a little devious. Going
between the two in the love triangle, I can see her with either one,
though I do like her with Jeb, as bland as he can be. <br /><br />In
addition to connecting some of the dots between these Wonderland
characters and the ones from the Lewis Caroll book, I REALLY enjoyed all
the lies and deception that went on, leaving you not knowing which is
up, which is actually kind of cool in itself since it's a Wonderland
story. <br /><br />Overall, very interesting book (especially for Wonderland fans) and the start to a hopefully equally great series.</span></span><br />

started out simple enough. One night I went to save a woman in trouble.
The next thing I knew, the doorway to hell had opened and out stepped
Daimons- soul-sucking vampires the likes of which I’d never seen before.
Led by the son of Apollo, they are out to end the curse that has

my favorite but it's definitely one that challenges everything you

This is just the book that makes you question everything.<br /><br />I like
to start these reviews with the, "if you haven't read the other books, I
highly recommend reading them first." It's not necessary, but it's kind
of cool to build up the timeline of events and they make slight
references back to the other books. <br /><br />Now, onto the review....<br /><br />Well
it starts off with a bang (almost literally... "bang"as in the exciting
way, where we see our heroine and her body guard completely kicking
ass, and I love a girl who can kick butt ;), and "bang" as in we have a
sex scene pretty early on. I'm usually not a big fan of that but it
doesn't take away from the book as a whole so I just kind of overlooked
it)<br /><br />Now we get to meet Wulf, who has the unique power where no
one can remember him after he leaves a room (with the exception of his
Squire and the other Dark-Hunters). Now, I was confused by Wulf's
relationship with Chris (his Squire) for a while. I got why Wulf was so
protective of him but couldn't really understand their relationship (as
well as why he could remember Wulf.) This may have been my own fault and
maybe I missed a key detail somewhere but I did find out that Chris is
descended from Wulf's brother (only his relatives can remember him).
Anyway, moving on.<br /><br />Cassandra offers a really interesting twist to
these love stories. She is an Apollite who is approaching her 27th
birthday (or deathday I guess...) but she's special. When she dies,
apparently so does the Sun. In a whole series of events that I won't
dive into (spoilers and all), Wulf ends up having to guard her from
people who want her dead (for reasons you can read about). Meanwhile, he
(as well as us readers), who hate Daimons and such, start to see them
in a new light. <br /><br />This book is really on par with the other books
as far as twists and awe-inducing happenings. If you are a fan of
Acheron (like me), this book puts more of an air of mystery around him
(if that's even possible). I am just craving to know more!!!<br /><br />Overall, this is a great book (just like the others) and it will literally make you question everything you thought you knew.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Zarek's Point of View:<br /><br />Dark-Hunter:
A soulless guardian who stands between mankind and those who would see
mankind destroyed. Yeah, right. The only part of that Code of Honor I
got was eternity and solitude. <br /><br />Insanity: A condition many say I
suffer from after being alone for so long. But I don't suffer from my
insanity-I enjoy every minute of it. <br /><br />Trust: I can't trust
anyone...not even myself. The only thing I trust in is my ability to do
the wrong thing in any situation and to hurt anyone who gets in my way.<br /><br />Truth:
I endured a lifetime as a Roman slave, and 900 years as an exiled
Dark-Hunter. Now I'm tired of enduring. I want the truth about what
happened the night I was exiled-I have nothing to lose and everything to
gain.<br /><br />Astrid (Greek, meaning star): An exceptional woman who can
see straight to the truth. Brave and strong, she is a point of light in
the darkness. She touches me and I tremble. She smiles and my cold
heart shatters.<br /><br />Zarek: They say even the most damned man can be
forgiven. I never believed that until the night Astrid opened her door
to me and made this feral beast want to be human again. Made me want to
love and be loved. But how can an ex-slave whose soul is owned by a
Greek goddess ever dream of touching, let alone holding, a fiery star?</span></div>

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview229930913">I
highly recommend if you haven't read the other books so far, since I
guess these could be stand alones, to go back and read them. Is it
necessary? No. But they do make some references back to the other books
and it was kind of cool to see the overlap in occurrences from the other
books. <br /><br />But I digress.... <br /><br />To start, I have a thing for
the tough guys for some reason in books. The kind of guy you really
don't expect to have his own love story. I think it goes with my
penchant for reading about people coming into love (as opposed to the
"love at first sight" stuff you see commonly now-a-days). In fact, Zarek
reminds me of Zsadist from J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series,
another character who I absolutely adored reading about (in fact, if
you enjoyed this book, give her series a try! It's another one of my
favorites!)<br /><br />On that note, I really loved (obviously) reading
about Zarek and Astrid. They aren't my first place couple (still held by
Talon and Sunshine), but they are ridiculously perfect. Astrid puts up
with none of Zarek's BS and we are able to see the soft side of Zarek
that no one has gotten to see before (collective awwwwww), along with
seeing reasons why he was such a dick to begin with. Plus, Astrid has a
Katagari wolf companion which is just freaking awesome!<br /><br />The whole
love part of the story had a kind of Beauty and the Beast kind of feel
to it, which I deeply enjoyed. Considering Astrid is blind, it's not so
much he's outer hideousness that at first causes her some pause (because
honestly.... Zarek is mega hot, even with his scar), but his supposedly
outer prickly personality. She is literally trapped with him in a cabin
and it's up to her to see if he can be saved or not. Once she starts to
peel that away, we get to see the true inner Zarek and we get to see
that he, like the other Dark-Hunters, has his very difficult past, but
he is still as honorable, loyal and courageous as any of the others. <br /><br />As with the other books, I really loved seeing how this diverse pair came together :)<br /><br />Where
other characters are concerned, we get to actually see a bit more into
some of the secrets with Ash. We meet his demon, Simi (who I
adore!!!!!), and see some of the true lengths he goes through for his
Dark Hunters. He really is the big brother of the group and I really am
growing more and more fond of him as well (as well as developing more
and more questions about him... hmmmm).<br /><br />Story-line wise, there is
the obvious action and adventure and peril that comes with the books.
Obviously, we have a new mega-enemy that the main characters must face,
but this one I actually was pretty scared for Zarek and Astrid for a
while. <br /><br />Along with the "killer" plot, the ending was amazing and I
didn't get the, "surprise! Didn't see that coming did you??" ending
that I got with the other books, but I wasn't really sad about that. The
ending just fit and I ended up just being at peace with it. <br /><br />This
is a feeling I do want to highlight, with the conclusion of this
review. Kenyon has a way of making you care about the characters. They
aren't just fictional characters, but to those who read the books, they
are real. Their pain is ours, and their happiness is ours. I truly
appreciate authors that can make me feel for their characters and Kenyon
does it flawlessly (and to the point where I'm obsessively picking up
the next books). </span></span></span><br />

<br />
Except for Elizabeth Milton. The daughter of notorious poet John Milton, Elizabeth has never known her place in this shifting world—except by her father’s side. By day she helps transcribe his latest masterpiece, the epic poem Paradise Lost, and by night she learns languages and sword fighting. Although she does not dare object, she suspects that he’s training her for a mission whose purpose she cannot fathom. <br />
<br />
Until one night the reason becomes clear: the king’s man arrive at her family’s country home to arrest her father. Determined to save him, Elizabeth follows his one cryptic clue and journeys to Oxford, accompanied by her father’s mysterious young houseguest, Antonio Vivani, a darkly handsome Italian scientist who surprises her at every turn. Funny, brilliant, and passionate, Antonio seems just as determined to protect her father as she is—but can she trust him with her heart? <br />
<br />
When the two discover that Milton has planted an explosive secret in the half-finished Paradise Lost—a secret the king and his aristocratic supporters are desperate to conceal—Elizabeth is faced with a devastating choice: cling to the shelter of her old life or risk cracking the code, unleashing a secret that could save her father…and tear apart the very fabric of society.</span></span></span></blockquote>

<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I really loved Blankman's duology about Hitler Germany, and my love for this book, while not as great, I was still deeply entertained by this title. <span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">This book was a little slower than her other title, but I owe that more to the time period than the author. Life is much faster with cars than with horses, but overall this book was thrilling from start to finish.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The characters in this book help bring the period to life, from Elizabeth, who is too smart for her own good to Antonio, the Italian whose own motives are questionable. <span id="freeText13779005991295752395">Setting: Modern New Orleans<br /><br />"Night Embrace" spins the story of Talon, an ancient Celtic warrior who killed the son of the god Camulus.<br /><br />Camulus
cursed Talon, decreeing death for everyone he loved. Now a Dark-Hunter
in modern-day New Orleans, Talon meets Sunshine, who is key to ending
his curse once and for all. Not to mention helping him to save New
Orleans from an ancient god bent on total destruction.</span></blockquote>
<br />
<a name='more'></a> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1602565646">I love this series!!!!! The characters, the plot, the romance.... everything!! Ev-er-y-thing!!!! <br /><br />This
is Talon's book and I love him! I love Kyrian too, from the last book,
but I think Talon trumps him. I love his tech-savvy-ness and his wit :)
Talon can be down right funny.<br /><br />Now throw Sunshine into this. She
is definitely my favorite female lead so far. She is so just... out
there! She's forgetful (much like myself) and is just amazingly
passionate, caring and funny! I really connected with her very well.<br /><br />Now
put the two together and we have my new favorite Dark-Hunter couple!! I
really love how they annoy each other throughout the book. One of my
favorite quotes from the book, that I think sums up Talon and Sunshine's
relationship: "...without pain you can't have joy. It's balance that
makes us appreciate the extremes." Talon and Sunshine, like Amanda and
Kyrian, are opposites and I love that in romances. Talon is Mr.
Cool-Calm-and Collected, while Sunshine is the over-expressive and wild
artist. I came into the book wanting to see how the two would come
together and I wasn't disappointed.<br /><br />The ending was amazingly cute
and pleasantly surprising. I'm overly excited to say that I didn't see
the ending coming at all. This is something I like with these books, is
that I don't read them just to see how the couple gets together, but to
see what happens with the plot and how they can overcome their
weaknesses. <br /><br />My only drawback with this book is I feel that Talon and Sunshine got together too
quick and the sex started a lot faster than I thought it would. I
understood it a bit because Talon had a lot of one-night stands before
but I have a personal thing about sex right off the bat (like by page
60....) <br /><br />Aside from that, everything was fabulous! I seriously
don't know how I forgot about this series but I'm so happy I
rediscovered it! Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master and it's definitely not
your typical vampire romance. </span></span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">One thing to know about me: I adore owls. I think I buy every owl accessory I come across. And I have an absolute weakness for Owl books and owl kids books?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Make me all: </span><br />

<a href="https://yaindulgences.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/rapunzel_swoon.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://yaindulgences.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/rapunzel_swoon.gif" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">So a book called <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26031263-good-night-owl">GOOD NIGHT OWL</a> by Greg Pizzoli? Makes me super happy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pint sized co-worker** and I (who wouldn't sit still long enough to let me take her picture with the book) read this before the start of a work day recently. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">There's nothing more adorable than reading a book you love with a kid as cute as Pint sized Co-worker. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">This book is a perfect addition to any favorite auntie or uncle's book collection, any parent or any growing picture book lover's collection (like mine). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Pint-Sized Co-worker loves when the owl gets mad. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">She also loved pointing out the source of the squeeks throughout the book. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I personally loved the record collection (drawn in loving detail by author, Greg Pizoli) on pages 9 and 10. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I also loved the feel of this book--the steady heavy pages, the colorful and bright images (I freaking love that the owl is blue and has a heart shaped face and has a green book). </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">This was such a fun book to share and one that I think everyone should have on their shelf regardless of if their reading with pint-sized adorable monkeys or just to themselves. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Be sure to buy this one up and enjoy it as much as we did. And don't forget to see what my other blog tour friends have said, listed below!</span><br />

<a name='more'></a> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1567111488">Overall,
not a bad middle book. It took a bit of remembering on my part from the
last book (since it had been a while) but it really doesn't act like
your typical middle book, where it's sole purpose is to connect the
first and third book. It continues on from the first book flawlessly and
leaves you with one heck of a cliffhanger to prepare you for the third.<br /><br />The
book starts off very quickly, which is both a pro and a con for me. So
much happens in a small amount of time, I didn't have a lot of time to
digest what had actually happened and the importance of it (and I'm
talking like the first 30 pages). Once I got my bearings, it continued
on very much like the first book. The tension and anticipation continues
to pick up, drawing you into the story and holding you there. <br /><br />The
characters are much like you remembered them from the first; I
personally still love Jaron/Sage :) You meet a few new characters along
the way, which are interesting side characters, but the main focus is
Roden and Jaron/Sage, where I love the bitter rivalry that's still
there. There were some inconsistencies and I felt that some parts were
rushed at the end with Roden and Sage, which kept this from getting 4-5
stars. <br /><br />The ending was awesome, and like I said, it leaves you
with one heck of a cliffhanger, which gears you right up for the next
book. I loved how everything came to a fairly resolved, satisfying
ending (for the most part.... again.... cliffhanger). I definitely
wished I had picked up the third book, so make sure you have it handy
when you get close to finishing this one.</span></span><br />

<a name='more'></a> <span class="readable reviewText"><span id="freeTextreview1571614509">So
I usually like to take notes of all the chaotic thoughts that go
through my head while reading a book so that, when I write the review a
few days (or, let's be honest, possible weeks) later, I can recount some
of my prior feelings....<br /><br />Why did I feel the need to tell you
this? Well because of the simply fact that this book absorbed me so
fully I actually forgot to take notes and just gushed out loud to
myself! (You may not find this as much of a "wow" factor that I do...
but if you knew how OCD I was about it.... you'd be impressed).<br /><br />I'm
not going to recount and give background on everything this book is
about since I'm assuming that if you are reading this, you have read (or
at least considered reading, and therefore have heard of) the other
books. So I'm going to keep this review like my adorable little, old
grandma... short and sweet. <br /><br />A lot happens in this book so be
prepared for quite a doozy (especially after the grenade of an ending
from the last book...). Everything that you love from the last book,
including Charley's wit, sarcasm and penchant for getting in way over
head is here (and let's be honest, you either love everything about
Charley.... or you are wrong). <br /><br />This book continues to make me love the Charley/Reyes couple <3<3<3 literal hearts in the eyes for them. <br /><br />Be
prepared as well.... this book literally made me cry from some of the
death in it... which I don't cry over books much, especially books about
a PI who can see ghosts and works with her uncle to solve their deaths.
The surprise of people dying is kind of ruined. But for some reason,
the deaths in this book got to me as much as they got to Charley. So
keep some tissues nearby. <br /><br />Overall, this is still a fabulous book
with fabulous characters and a fabulous plot and I'm so excited to see
what else Charley can get herself into.</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span id="freeText1390451926841398933" style="font-size: small;">What if the sleeping beauty never woke up? <i>Once Upon a Dream</i> marks the second book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways.<br />
<br />
It should be simple--a dragon defeated, a slumbering maiden, a prince poised to wake her. But when said prince falls asleep as soon as his lips meet the princess's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over.<br />
<br />
With a desperate fairy's last curse infiltrating her mind, Princess Aurora will have to navigate a dangerous and magical landscape deep in the depths of her dreams. Soon she stumbles upon Phillip, a charming prince eager to join her quest. But with Maleficent's agents following her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are, and moreover, who <i>she</i> truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up?</span></span></blockquote>
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">I think that Once Upon a Dream managed to tackle one of the issues that A Whole New World faced which was that the first 70 or so pages were just straight reiteration of the movie. In this book, we're right away introduced into Phillips POV as he races through the castle to bestow upon Sleeping Beauty the kiss that will end the curse.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span id="freeText1390451926841398933" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span id="freeText1390451926841398933" style="font-size: small;">Of course, if that had worked, we wouldn't have this book. Instead, we're plunged into Aurora's head as she slumbers and we see that Maleficent hasn't just cursed her to sleep forever, but has also ripped away any comfort that she may have found in the dream world and has replaced it with a twisted reality where Maleficent is a benevolent fairy who only wants to help.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span id="freeText1390451926841398933" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span> <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span id="freeText1390451926841398933" style="font-size: small;">From there we explore Aurora's feelings as she learns the truth. Philip is charming as to be expected and overall, the cast of supporting characters help make the book.</span></span><br />
