Dina's life is nearing its end. But for Dina, the end is really just the beginning. For months, she's been fighting terminal cancer. She's finally resigned herself to preparing for the end. Her last few weeks are going to be with her sisters, sharing the happy memories of a life well spent.
I want to like this book a little more than I did. I didn't think it was bad, but it didn't wow me. I felt horrible for Dina who had this terrible thing happening to her, but at the same time, all I really knew about her life was that she was dying of cancer, she had 3 sisters and used to be a school teacher. I didn't know what type of cancer she had, how old she was, or even where her story was being told. That really made me feel disconnected from the story.

I found her relationship with Gil, her angel, to be sweet. When they first got together, it feel a little off because he was suddenly there asking questions about her and we never really learn who Gil was. I mean, he's an angel, but it felt strange that the entire time that they were talking, he would just prod her with questions, and not really talk about himself. Which for me would be setting off alarms, but maybe I'm just paranoid.

There was also something about how they started talking and getting to know each other that felt off to me, but thats something that I could live with because it got better as the book went on. What I did find interesting was how he always knew her favorite things and did all these great things for her while she was dying. Which actually begged the question if he was really a hallucination.

It was something that her two sisters believed weren't happening as her baby sister tried to make her as comfortable as possible and that her big sister refused to believe. I found it sad how how it seemed like her sisters sort of just humored her but didn't really listen to her in her dying days. I was glad that she was able to offer her baby sister a blessing about her new relationship, something that she would have looked too and missed in the future.

Such a sad book the way that it worked out, and I think with a few tweaks here and there, it could be a really great book and a shining example on trying to stay positive even if things aren't looking positive for you.

Note: I totally loved the title and how it tied into the story, that was my favorite.
