Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #2)

Author: Rick Riordan
Goodreads Rating: 4.20
Pages: 288
Format: Audio Book
The heroic son of Poseidon makes an action-packed comeback in the second must-read installment of Rick Riordan's amazing young readers series. Starring Percy Jackson, a "half blood" whose mother is human and whose father is the God of the Sea, Riordan's series combines cliffhanger adventure and Greek mythology lessons that results in true page-turners that get better with each installment. In this episode, The Sea of Monsters, Percy sets out to retrieve the Golden Fleece before his summer camp is destroyed, surpassing the first book's drama and setting the stage for more thrills to come.

This continues to be a fabulous series. I continue to read this book as an audiobook read by Jesse Bernstein. I still like his voice as Percy and love his voices for the different characters (however sometimes a couple characters do sound similar). Overall, Jesse does a good job.

The storyline was really good as well. I do like how Riordan develops an over-arching plot that stretches over all his books, while still creating a great plot for the individual book. It's shaping up to be a great series, with the overall plot really taking route and evolving. The book itself was a descent read that had it's ups and downs. There were a lot of twists, an interesting new character, and still lots of action :)

Overall, good book with a great plot. It got a little boring at times but I really like the new character and developing over-arching story line and am eager to see where it goes (especially with the shocker at the end!)
