Review: Infinity (Chronicles of Nick #1)

Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Goodreads Rating: 4.04
Pages: 464
At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.

Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.

But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he's next on the menu.

As if starting high school isn't hard enough. . .now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?

Let me start by saying, if you are a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series.... read this!!! Right now!! I've seen parents who read the series start reading this with their kids so they can both enjoy the world and talk about the characters, which is really awesome :)

I will continue to say that this series makes me ridiculously happy. I love Nick in the Dark-Hunters series so I'm glad to see how he got his start in the Dark-Hunter world and Kyrian. I loved to see that all the sarcasm and wit he has as an adult was apparently ingrained in him as a kid.

Now, being that I'm only part way through the Dark-Hunter series, this lead to some confusion on Ambrose and his role with Nick and how all that connects back to the Dark-Hunter series, but I'm hoping that gets cleared up the more I read.

Without giving away any spoilers, I will say this book generated a lot of other questions that I really hope are answered, but overall, I'm super excited about this series (as I usually am with anything Kenyon related), and as I've said before... if you read the Dark-Hunters series.... read this!! Get your kids to read it!! Get your friends to read it!!

I am obviously coming from the point of view of someone who has read her Dark-Hunter series, but trying to be unbiased as possible, this is still a really great book. Kenyon has a way with making characters that make you feel for and love them, which is something I love about any book. I always love her writing style, she can add humor to any situation and it doesn't take away from the seriousness of the situation, and all her works always leave me wanting more, and this is no exception.

If you don't read the Dark-Hunter series, check out my review of the first book (see link above) and get reading!!!
