Synopses:

Fans of Eleanor and ParkThe Spectacular Now, Willow, and Perfectly Good White Boy won't be able to put down this gritty but hopeful love story about two struggling teens.
Tyler has a football scholarship to Stanford, a hot girlfriend, and a reliable army of friends to party with. Then his mom kills herself. And Tyler lets it all go. Now he needs to dodge what his dad is offering (verbal tirades and abuse) and earn what his dad isn’t (money): He needs a job. It’s there that he reunites with Jordyn, his childhood best friend, and now the token goth girl at school. Jordyn brings Tyler an unexpected peace and, finally, love. But with his family in shambles, he can’t risk bringing Jordyn too deeply into his life. So when violence rocks Tyler’s world again, will it be Jordyn who shows him the way to a hopeful future? Or after everything, will Tyler have to find it in himself?

This tough, realistic page-turner reveals a boy's point of view on loss and love—perfect for fans of Rainbow Rowell, Tim Tharp, Julia Hoban, Carrie Mesrobian, and Mindi Scott.

Waiting On Wednesday #3

Hosted by Jill, at Breaking The Spine, Waiting On Wednesday is a feature that highlights books we're all desperately anticipating.

My waiting on Wednesday pick is Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen.

Okay, so there are a lot of reasons I want to read this book.

I'll start from ridiculous reasons and work my way down to the more weighty ones:

1. The cover. Carousals are whimsical. Whimsical covers are perfect.
2. The buzz. This is a particularly buzzy book for the Spring. I want to see if it lives up to the hype.
3. Sarah Dessen. I mean, who doesn't want to read a Sarah Dessen book?
4. I need to give Dessen another chance. I've only read one and three quarters of her books but I have a whole collection.
5. It's about a topic that is--unfortunately-- painfully personal to me. Not many YA stories focus on incarcerated family members. And while her brother is in jail, not prison, I think it's an important topic to discuss. I think it needs to be written about more. But this is a start. So I want to see how Sarah Dessen writes about it.

What's your WOW? Do you want to read Saint Anything? Why?

The Sound of Letting Go Cover Reveal

So today I have a super special treat for you guys. Today I am participating in a cover reveal for upcoming 2014 Penguin title: The Sound of Letting Go by Stacia Ward Kehoe. I don't often do cover reveals. In fact, this is my very first cover reveal and I am so glad that I picked this title because this cover is so beautiful and it sounds amazing, so before we get to the pretty cover part of this program, check out the synopses:

For sixteen years, Daisy has been good. A good daughter, helping out with her autistic younger brother uncomplainingly. A good friend, even when her best friend makes her feel like a third wheel. When her parents announce they’re sending her brother to an institution—without consulting her—Daisy’s furious, and decides the best way to be a good sister is to start being bad. She quits jazz band and orchestra, slacks in school, and falls for bad-boy Dave.

But one person won’t let Daisy forget who she used to be: Irish exchange student and brilliant musician Cal. Does she want the bad boy or the prodigy? Should she side with her parents or protect her brother? How can she know when to hold on and when—and how—to let go?

So are you ready to check out the cover?!?!?! Yeah?

Fen de la Guerre is living with the O-Positive blood tribe in the Delta when they are ambushed. Left with her tribe leader’s newborn, Fen is determined to get the baby to a better life over the wall before her blood becomes tainted. Fen meets Daniel, a scientist from the Outer States who has snuck into the Delta illegally. Brought together by chance, kept together by danger, Fen and Daniel navigate the wasteland of Orleans. In the end, they are each other’s last hope for survival.
