Not my usual historical period, but I saw the cover of the audiobook one summer, and finally got around to picking it up from the library. This was a little out of my comfort zone as far as history goes, but I did find that it was easy enough to settle into this time period. I have listened to other works by Alison Weir and enjoyed them although so far this one has more sex than is comfortable to listen to.

I got this book from Netgalley, and it's no secret why I requested this title. I am wholly in love with Historical Fiction and specifically anything that has to do with Tudor England. Naturally this book would catch my eye. Getting approved for it was rather exciting and I'm so glad that I got the chance to review this book.

As a historian, I love certain aspects of history and one of those is the impact of plagues on history. When I got the chance to review this book, I was really excited because the Spanish Influenza is the plague of our time period. Its the closest one we've got and that is what really drew me into the book. And even though this book had little to do with the plague, I still enjoyed it.

Interview and Giveaway With Brandy Purdy

Let me start this post off by saying I met Purdy Online about two years ago when I stumbled across Vengeance is Mine which was the original tile of The Boleyn Wife. I sent her a desperate email because I wanted to read that book so badly and I had to find out how to get my hands on that book. Kindly, she responded to my email, and told me that it was published under the new title, and then she did something amazing, she offered to send me the book.

In that one moment of kindness, she made a lifelong reader. She not only sent me The Boleyn Wife, but also bookmarks to go with it. I still use one of those bookmarks and it is the longest that I have ever used a traditional bookmark (I was generally partial to ripped pieces of paper). I actually get really bummed out when I misplace it while on the couch reading (it only falls between the pillows). When I spent the summer in New Hampshire, I found myself excited when I saw her third book, The Tudor Throne on the bookshelves of the store. Naturally I bought it as my way of showing her that I still supported her and was interested in what she was writing.

I adore Brandy Purdy, I've read The Boleyn Wife by her and I purchased The Tudor Throne this past summer. When I had the chance to join the Blog Tour hosted by Amy at Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours. This post is only the first of two, the second post will come on Thursday with an interview and a giveaway of this great book!

I read this book for a blog tour hosted by Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours. The concept confused me a little, but once I got into the book, I understood what it meant by flower reading. I was also really intimidated by the woman on the cover because she looks like she could kill you dead with that look. I'm so glad that I got asked to read this book because I really wound up enjoying it.

I've already expressed my love of the Titanic on Tuesday with my post about the Lost Voices From the Titanic. Today's post is in memoriam of the sinking of the ship, and when it hit the iceberg. This is a Scholastic book so it is geared more for middle school readers or even a little younger. I will admit that I was mislead in this book, but like all Scholastic books, it managed to maintain the educational aspect.

Introduction

This is going to be my new blog about books. Since this is only going to be an introduction to who I am and what sort of things that I like. Right now I am a recent college graduate waiting to turn twenty one. I love to read, and have a degree in History and so I love Historical Fiction books. My mother is a bookseller and my sister is an English teacher which is how I found my love of books.

I have started to come out of my comfort zone as far as books go, I usually don't read a lot of factual books or memoirs, but I have started to, and I really love it. I listen to audiobooks when I'm driving and occasionally when I work out. I do still love to read and do it any chance that I get. This Christmas I will be getting a Nook and I will be blogging plenty about my new Nook and what its like.

While I get to the ends of the books I'm currently reading, I will update you on previous books that Ive read, and offer some books that fit the season.

Right now I am in the process of reading Angelology by Danielle Trussoni, Plague and Fire by James Mohr and Far from Here by Nicole Baart.
