Showcase Sunday is a meme hosted by Vicki over at Books, Biscuits, and Tea. Showcase Sunday is a chance for us bloggers to share with you, our readers, what we have gotten recently. I don't often get any new books because I have a hard enough time keeping up with ones that I already have, but this week a got a whole lot of new books that I felt I should share.
Purchased:
Purchased because of the obscenely pretty cover and crown. I am the Paperback Princess after all. I've heard mixed things about this book, many having to do with the author, but my theory is, even if JK Rowling were to slap a reader across the face, it doesn't stop her books from being wonderful.
ARC's:
A book my momma brought home for me, she does this a lot. I am in a sorority (just because I graduated doesn't mean my sisterhood ended) so I'm assuming thats why my got this one for me. It seems like a really cool concept. It will probably be a long time before I get to this book though. This book comes out on June 5, 2012.
Another book taken home by my mom for me. It seems like an interesting concept about WWII. Again, I'm not sure when I will have time to get to it, but it comes out on May 8, 2012
Again, my mother brought this home for me. I love love love the Tudors (if you've seen previous blog posts, you know that) and this one is centered around Anne Boleyn. I think I might have a good friend read it first to see if it is more about Anne Boleyn and less about Thomas Cromwell. Because lets be honest, I care about the queen, not the politics. This is the sequel to Wolf Hall and will be hitting shelves on May 8th, 2012.
First Reads:
I won this from Goodreads about a week ago or so, I have a lot of book that NEED to be read soon, but I plan on adding this book into the mix. I always feel an obligation to books I won because the whole point is that I read and review it. I got this book in the form of an ARC. You can find this book in stores on June 5, 2012.
Netgalley:
The darling Lacey at The Page Turner, taught me about Netgalley, and I will admit, I went a little nuts. I requested this book because I love mermaids and its been all over my goodreads because of friends that are reading it. I'm really excited and plan on reading it as soon as possible. It doesn't come out until June 12, 2012, so you should see my review of it around the end of May.
I already read and finished this book, it was a nice short quick read, you can read my review here. The Other Life will hit shelves on May 15th, 2012.
A really cool idea where this girl seems to have blacked out the memory of how her boyfriend died. This one is slated to be read soon, but there are always other books that seem to demand attention. One Moment is coming to a store near you on June 26, 2012.
If I were a book, or an author, I would have total cover envy because this just looks awesome. Another dystopian type of book that comes out in August.
A Sweedish Thriller. Its been a while since I've read a thriller, so I can't wait to get into this book, the concept of a sisters and brother-in-law trifecta also sounded interesting, so I can't wait to see how it pans out. Drowned hits US bookstores around May 22, 2012.
I can't tell if this is dystopian or fantasy, but it doesn't matter because I still can't wait to read it. It also seems that it could just be supernatural which I am totally okay with as well. Slated to come out on May 20, 2012 Talisman of El is surely going to be read soon.
A teenagers dream where they essentially run the school, but only because they have a lethal disease that kills adults. I'm hooked already. You can get your own copy on July 10, 2012.
Book Tour Books:
I am currently reading The Flower Reader by Elizabeth Loupas. So far its really good and seems like its going to be a quick read which is going to be great. It's the Scottish story of Mary, Queen of Scotts, so I'm excited to read more about her. This blog tour is hosted by Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours and my review of this book will be posted on May 14, 2012. The Flower Reader is already on shelves so go pick up your copy!
I already owned this book when I was asked to do a Blog Tour for it by TLC tours, but I did get my copy that will be part of a giveaway this week. I got the book, no giveaway until May 15, 2012 when I will be posting my review of this book, so check back!
Another giveaway copy that I received in the mail. I already finished reading my copy of the book, so you will just have to wait until May 8, 2012 when I publish my review of this quirky book.
I got my copy of this book to giveaway as well (That makes three upcoming giveaways!). I'm really excited for this book and if you are a goodreads member you can go ahead and enter to win a copy of this book here. But you can also enter to win The Cottage at Glass Beach on May 22, 2012.
Another book blog tour stop set for May 31, 2012. Sadly no giveaway for this one, but you will get my review at the end of May! I'm excited to read this book since it is a little out of my comfort zone.
E-Books:
I got this after seeing that it was free for the Kindle on Linny's Lit, I checked if it was free for the Nook too and it was! I think this one is going to have to wait until I have my cruise in August though since the only thing coming with me is my Nook.
Free Friday book! I have a super bad history obsession. So when Nook offered this free, I pounced.
What a great haul this week. You got some fab goodies. I have a few of those on my TBR pile too.
