Book Blogger Love-a-thon Welcome!

Hey Everyone! Today I'm participating in the Book Bloggers Love-a-thon hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books and Katelyn from Kate's Tales of Books and Bands. And today I got to interview a different Caitlyn from Caitlyn Reads who is a fairly new blogger. So check out my blog post about Books and Blogging with Caitlyn.

What is your biggest reading pet peeve?

I only have a few reading related pet peeves, but the ones I do have are ones that really, REALLY bother me. Not giving a book a shot is one of them. And I don't mean not finishing a book because it's bad (I do that). I mean not finishing a book simply because you're too lazy. I know people who do this ALL THE TIME, and it drives me insane. And then they claim, after reading only the first two pages or so, that the book is too boring. HA! No. Sorry, I don't think it's the book that's at fault here.
And then, to make it worse, those same people have the nerve to ask me for book reccomendations or to borrow one of my books after they dissed some of my favorite books.

What made you want to start blogging?

I love talking about books (I could go on FOREVER), but I needed someone to talk to, so I decided to create a book blog, where I could share my obsessi--I mean, hobby.

When did you discover your love of reading?

I didn't love reading until around fourth or fifth grade, when I first read Harry Potter. Before that, I wasn't a fan of reading, so Harry Potter pretty much changed my life for the better.

What is one element in a book that drives you crazy?

I'll fly with almost anything, as long as the author makes it believable. I could even be fine with instalove, as long as the author finds a way to make the romance convincing. (But that's hardly ever the case. There's only one time I remember not being bugged by instalove, and that's because the author provided an explanation for it.)

Do you re-read books?

I wish I had time to re-read books, but there are just so many which I haven't read yet. There's a zillion books coming out, and I have a bazillion books to catch up on. (The ba- totally makes it worth more than just the 'zillion'.)

Hardcover or Paperback?

Paperbacks are lighter, and therefore easier to read, but I like hardcover better because it looks nicer, and it's not as fragile.

Ebook or Physical Copy?

I like that ebooks are cheaper, but I prefer physical books because I can have them displayed on my shelf, and I think having to read from electronics is a bit annoying.

  2. That is one of my biggest pet peeves! Out of my six siblings, approximately zero of them enjoy reading. I try and push books on them all the time and they do that same "It's boring" thing after reading the first paragraph. I think if more people would give it a chance, they would be incredibly surprised to see that they love it!

  3. I never really thought that much about rereading a book before starting my blog. I've always just kind of thought "I already read it and know what happens so what's the point?" but I've also discovered that I basically have the worst memory for books ever. So, I definitely see the worth now, plus, I think it'd be fun to re-experience the emotions of some of my favorites (rewatching Doctor Who with my husband has proven time and again that I'll still bawl like a baby when I know exactly what's coming :P)

  4. Oooh, I love your blog design! The colors are so pretty! And I hate it when people don't want to read the books I recommend to them. Like, I know for sure that some of my family members and friends will LOVE The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson and all that, so I give them the books, but then they just don't read them. Because "they don't feel like it". Ugh.

  5. Great interview! I hate when people don't even give the books a try after only a couple of pages, you can't really get much from just reading one chapter. And yay for another HP fan!! =D

  6. AHHH I hate when people rate books without reading them or someone calls them on their scathing review and they are like "Well I only read 10 pages" omg RAGE. Harry Potter is what turned my bf into a reader! He is definitely a different guy and our relationship benefitted!

  7. First and foremost - your blog is gorgeous and we have a lot of books in common so I'm a new follower :)

I can't decide whether I like the physical copy or e-reader. I really try to take notes when I'm reading a book (although it doesn't always happen because I don't want to pause to do so) and I've realized its much easier to highlight a bunch of stuff in an e-reader than write out all my thoughts and favorite quotes with a print copy BUT I also like stacking my shelves with books and physically holding it (and admiring it) while reading.
